Complete Fitness Concepts

FAQ

Q: What is offered by CFC?
A: We offer training in all areas of fitness and defensive tactics

Q: What is your average student/client like?
A: Most of us are not elite athletes or special ops guys. Although we do train those types, the majority of clients are average folks who want to be healthy and gave fun doing it. We have a 60 year old plumber, a 50 year old office manager, a 22 year old recent college grad, etc.

Q: What styles of Martial Arts does Complete Fitness Concepts offer?
A: We teach survival martial arts. In other words we will teach YOU how to survive an altercation. We employ techniques from: Jeet Kune Do Concepts, Combat Jeet Kune Do, and Combat Submission Wrestling/Shoot Fighting/Grappling and Kali (stick and knife)

Q: That seems like a lot to learn, can I focus on just one aspect.
A: The idea behind our instruction is to integrate the different areas of combat; stand up, ground, and weapons. First you will learn the self preservation aspects or survival skills; you then have the rest of your life to get better at making each technique crisper and cleaner

Q: What’s the difference between Complete Fitness Concepts and the other schools that offer similar instruction?
A: We teach defensive tactics, not sport fighting. Although what you learn can be adjusted for sport, our focus is on survival, not scoring points.

Q: Does Complete Fitness Concepts offer group and private lessons?
A: Yes we have group martial arts lessons in the evenings; small groups and private lessons are scheduled on a per client basis.

Q: What is corrective exercise?
A: Corrective exercise is a form of rehabilitation training that can be effective prior to and after an injury. We look at the body as a whole and using rehab and physical therapy protocols even out any muscular imbalances caused by traumatic injury, repetitive movements, or a sedentary life style.

Q: What do you mean by training progression?
A: Fitness is a process; build stability, build endurance, build strength, build power. Just like we must first learn the alphabet before we read, we must build a stable structure before we add to it.

Q: I have been hurt by over eager students in the past, can you ensure my safety.
A: Martial arts are a contact activity and nothing can ensure 100% safety. With that said, everyone in our classes have to get up and go to work, or to school, or home to their families.

Q: Do you teach children?
A: We teach children in private lessons. The group classes are geared towards adults.

Q: I am not in very good shape, can I still take lessons?
A: Because of Dan Mikeska’s extensive fitness knowledge, you will always have a safe and productive workout.

Q: What’s the best part of training at Complete Fitness Concepts?
A: Variety. Because of all the different types of people here, you have the opportunity to train with students of varying backgrounds and attributes. With the open sparring on Saturdays, we allow anyone who wants to spar in a controlled environment to opportunity to train.
